Unless you're an astrologer, you probably have not heard about the unusual planetary alignment that is coming to a sky near you. Starting July 31st, 2020, until the end of November 2020, Saturn will be crowning, or aligned on top of, Pluto, all in an area of space named Eris. Eris is named after the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Many who concern themselves with the signs in the stars are concerned that such an alignment could be a marker of things to come. As if 2020 has not already been chaotic enough, many astrologers are worried that this new alignment will usher in even more pandemonium.
So, why are the signs so concerning? Well, let's look at what it all means.
First you have Saturn, which was the Roman's representation of the Greek god of agriculture named Cronus. Cronus was believed to be another one of the many representations of the Babylonian god, Baal, who was also called Bel, Baal Hammon, and in English, Lord. Baal was, in short, the god of sacrifice. Because the ancient world's wealth was based primarily on agriculture, nearly all sacrifices were done for agricultural purposes. Thus the god of sacrifice became linked with the god of agriculture. It was believed that if Baal was satisfied with the sacrifice, he would grant that empire or civilization with seven years of prosperity, which meant a healthy, vivacious harvest, but if he was disappointed he would curse that land with seven years of famine to consume that civilization. As a result, the Greeks and Romans would look to Saturn to determine when to hold their sacrifices, and other rituals. For the Babylonians, the sacrifices included humans, specifically children, for the Greeks and Romans it is believed they sacrificed animals (especially livestock). However, some argue that the Greeks and Romans did sacrifice the children of the temple prostitutes, as mass graves of infants would often be found near the temples where the prostitutes lived and worked.
Next, you have Pluto, which was the Roman god of death, who ruled over the underworld and those transitioning to the next life. Pluto is often compared to the Egyptian god of the underworld, Anubis and the Roman god of the underworld, Hades. However, unlike Anubis and Hades, Pluto is also linked to wealth. This is due to the fact that the Roman and Greek's wealth was mainly in the form of precious metals and stones, which came from the underworld or underground. Pluto was described as being mysterious, frightening, and mighty. He could, like Baal, dispense enormous wealth to the mortals or wipe them out. Pluto was often depicted with his three-headed dog, Cerberus, that protected the wealth of the underworld from prying mortals that sought to go there.
Finally, you have Eris, named after the Greek goddess of strife. Eris was also called the goddess of "discordia" or discord by the Romans. Everything about Eris is suppose to represent war, chaos, and destruction. She is said to constantly be at war with her twin sister, the goddess of harmonia or harmony. She is often depicted as a hermaphrodite, having both male and female characteristics that are supposed to be at war with each other, so that even her very existence is a state of war. In Greek and Roman mythology she is often depicted as being the cause of conflicts between kings and peoples and wars. She is often depicted with golden apples that she would leave in certain areas to cause people to fight over the apples and become distracted and angered. She is described as being extremely mischievous and can only be made happy when others are being driven to the brinks of madness and destruction.
So, in summary, on July 31st, the god of sacrifice (Saturn) will be crowning the god of death (Pluto) in the land of strife and chaos (Eris). Now, you see why some are saying bad things are ahead. Even if you're not an astrologer, many powerful people are and they may help usher in the destruction they believe is coming. As many psychologist have pointed out, self-fulfilling prophecy is prophecy, and if the world elite believe that July 31st is a sign for sacrifice, death, and chaos, they may fulfill the prophecy themselves.
